Pure Kentucky Bluegrass (and More)

THE KEVIN PRATER BAND!

Friday, November 16th @ 8pm

One of the top traditional bluegrass and gospel groups on the road today, The Kevin Prater Band keeps audiences coming back with solid instrumental work, tight harmonies and Kevin's high tenor vocals. And while the group clearly tips it hat to the music of The Seldom Scene and The Country Gentleman, they're always blazing paths of their own, including “grassed-up” versions of classic country and vintage rock.

Kevin Prater was born in the heart of bluegrass music country and begin playing and singing at the ripe old age of four. By age seven he had made his first professional public performance and by age 11 had mastered the banjo, bass, Dobro, mandolin and guitar. He later formed Elkhorn Grass and toured with the group for more than eleven years, during which time he was named an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He was also a member of the house band at Dollywood for three years.

During his work with The James King Band, Kevin worked on several award-winning projects and became known as the "Machine Gun Mandolin Player." At the encouragement of fellow band member, Tom Timberlake, Kevin formed The Kevin Prater Band in 2009.

Come join the fun at this toe-tapping Pickin' Parlor show. And bring the family!
