You help is needed. As many know, we have recently had to cancel our annual fund raiser called the NFBA EXPO due to the threat of Hurricane Irma. An emergency meeting was called by our board and it was agreed that the safety of our members and uncertainty of the storms aftermath outweighed the decision to go forward with it as scheduled. For over 24 years this annual event has served as an gathering for our membership and showcase our talented bands. It has also been one of the most important fund raisers all year to help offset operational costs. To complicate things, our organization has now only hosted 1 in the last 3 years. This has created a challenge for finances needed to operate. Our mission has always been to preserve, protect and promote bluegrass music and its rich heritage. All of this comes at a cost. Please understand that we are all unpaid volunteers. The last 2 years of our rebuilding process have endured costs that are currently being covered but our income has been impacted by the absence of our fundraiser's. We have made many changes in the past year that have more than doubled our membership. We have switched many members to an online version of our news letter saving us enough to continue its circulation. Although we feel that this is a temporary problem, we felt it was necessary to give it all of our attention by not ignoring to see it will get better. We currently have enough funds to operate for a year and with future fund raising events, we can improve. We are asking you to consider donating to our organization to help ensure its longevity and maintain its presence as a pillar in the community sharing American heritage for generations to come.
